After celebrating its 15th anniversary last year with the NSFW: Female Gaze exhibit, NYC’s infamous Museum of Sex has announced two special public programming events that will be in conjunction with the museum’s current exhibition, The Incomplete Araki: Sex, Life, and Death in the Work of Nobuyoshi Araki on view until August 31.

Starting July 10, in collaboration with Japan Society, the Museum of Sex is screening Arakimentari, where visitors will be able to explore the stunning and controversial works of Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki and enjoy a talkback with the film’s director, Travis Klose in discussion with Japanese photography expert and former senior editor of Art in America, Christopher Phillips. Tickets are priced at $15 USD and more info can be found here.

Then, on July 17 and July 19 at the MoSEX lounge, Kinbaku performances will be on display, which is an ancient, erotic Japanese artform that translates literally as “the beauty of tight binding,” conducted by illustrious Kinbaku artist, Hajime Kinoko and his model Aime Feti.
